Investigation of the Relationship between Social Support, Relationship Quality and Social Commerce

The emergence of social network sites and increasing popularity of social network sites have risen to a new electronic commerce stream, called social commerce. In social commerce individuals share their information and experiences about products and services, creating a friendly and supporting online environment. This study based on social support and relationship quality theories considered as a model to investigate the relationship between social support, relationship quality, and social commerce intention. In this regard after reviewing the relevant literature, a research model introduced by Hajli in 2014 with some modifications selected as the research model. A questionnaire of 22 items adopted from previous literature applied to data collection. The research conducted on two popular social network users in Iran, Facebook and Telegram. A sample consists of 384 volunteers filled out the questionnaires. Pearson correlation analysis method and partial least square applied to test the model. The results indicated that social commerce intention is directly related to both social support and relationship quality. The research findings emphasize on technological changes in electronic commerce and provide new strategies to firms and sellers to adopt innovation and serve social networks in their business.

Effect of Dividend Policy on Stock Prices: Analysis of Listed Banks in Nigeria

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between dividend payout, retained earnings, corporate tax and stock prices with a focus on the Nigerian banking sector. The population of the study comprises of banks that are listed in the Nigerian Stock Exchange. The study samples were selected using purposive sampling method. Data were collected from the Annual report and accounts of the sampled banks for a period of ten years (2006- 2015). The Ordinary Least Square Regrerices with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Regression Results shows that dividend pay-out has significant positive relationship with stock market prices. The study also revealed that retained earnings have a significant positive relationship with share prices. Corporate tax, has significant negative relationship with the stock prices of the listed commandssion Model was used to estimate the relationship between dividend pay-out, retained earnings, corporate tax  stock percial banks in Nigeria.

Factors of Failure for Abandoned Housing Projects

Abandonment of projects is considered one of the most common and serious problems in the Malaysian construction industry. The numbers and the value of the projects involve are usually large. Not only the buyers are affected by this, but also other parties, such as the developer, contractor, supplier and also the financier. Abandoned projects may involve public fund to be revived. Even though this issue is a serious matter, the research regarding this matter is very scarce. Firstly, the literatures about this issue are reviewed. The potential causes of abandonment issues are summarized to be used in the questionnaire survey. The questionnaire survey had included an open-ended question which has given a good response when the respondents not only suggested the solution, but also included the possible causes for abandonment of projects. Quantitative analyses include the ranking of 37 potential causes of abandoning projects with Pearson’s ranking correlation between different group of respondents and factor analysis with Cronbach’s α reliability analysis. Qualitative analyses included the results of the open-ended question and the results from the case study. The discussion included interpreting the results of the questionnaire survey, open-ended question and case study.

The Variation Effect of Gender on the Motivation, Social Support and Goal Orientation of the Trainee in Malaysia

The present study aims to analyze the variation effect of gender on the motivation, social support and goal orientation of the trainee in Malaysia.  The study collects as sample comprises trainees at “GIATMARA”, a semi-government owned training institution. Altogether 21 training centers in peninsular Malaysia were involved in the study. The data analysis was based on responses from 245 female and 96 male respondents.  The data were collected via a questionnaire survey. The questionnaire contains measures which were adopted from past studies. Overall, it was found that female trainees registered higher mean values than males across all the key research variables and the differences were significant for all variables except goal orientation. The theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed.

Walking the tightrope: Examining the role of high performance work systems on the achievement of high performance organization in the SMEs sector

High-performance work system (HPWS) has been viewed as a key to competitive advantage and capable of creating differentiation while contributing to the overall performance of the organization. However, recent developments, argued that, in spite of the undeniable significance of HPWS to organizational performance, the practices has not be extended to the context of small firms and that researchers have not identified specific set of practices in HPWS that are capable of facilitating  organizational performance. In view of the above argument, this study examines the role of HPWS practices in achieving high performance within the small business sectors.  Four dimensions of HPWP were identified in this study and were assessed on a seven-point scale.  Our data were drawn from SMEs that have spent a minimum of ten years in the Nigeria industry. Results showed that practices involved in HPWS positively influence HPO. The findings showed that given the changing business environment, managers need to develop a HPWS culture in their organizations. Thus, the study has contributed to the enrichment of the literature on HPWS and HPO by proposing a model that was empirically tested.

Employee Engagement among Assistant Registrars in Public Institutions of Higher Education in Malaysia: A Descriptive Study

The study attempted to find out the level of employee engagement among assistant registrars of Public Institution of Higher Learning in Malaysia. A survey with a close-ended questionnaire was distributed among assistant registrars of twenty public universities and 400 sets of questionnaire were collected. Results show that assistant registrars of Public Universities are highly engaged in their jobs. Further analysis was conducted on two categories of factors that contribute to employee engagement namely psychological conditions and job resources. Psychological meaningfulness was found to be the most contributing factor of employee engagement. Based on the findings it can be concluded that psychological conditions are more important than job resources with regards to employee engagement.

Socio-Demographic Factors as Predictors of Customer Loyalty to Fast Food Restaurants in Delta State, Nigeria

Customer loyalty is a competitive tool and a major driver of survival and success in many retail business organizations. Improvement in social and economic development in Delta State, Nigeria the past decade has resulted in rapid expansion in the fast food restaurants (FFRs) industry. However, the emergence of new operators has made competition so intense that operators are seeking measures to expand their market share and retain existing customers. The study examined socio-demographic factors that influence customer loyalty to fast food restaurants (FFRs) in Delta State, Nigeria. Primary data for this study were obtained from a survey of a cross-section of customers of FFRs in five (5) urban centres in with the aid of a structured questionnaire. 200 copies of the questionnaire were administered to customers in 10 FFRs that were randomly drawn from a list of 13 major restaurants operating in the State. The findings showed a mean age of 31 years for customers; 62.3% of them were single; while the average duration of patronage is 17 months. Multiple regression results indicated that monthly income, dining frequency, customer satisfaction, perceived value, service and food quality have positive and statistically significant effects, with food quality as the dominant predictor of customer loyalty; but the influence of educational status was negative. Significant differences existed in customer loyalty among the FFRs. The authors recommend that restaurateurs should improve on the quality of food and services in order to win the loyalty of their customers and remain in business.

Organisational learning as a Mediator of the Relationship between HR Outsourcing and Organisational Performance

While a considerable amount of research has contributed to our understanding of the influencing of HR outsourcing on organisational performance, literature suggests that there is a paucity of research examining the fundamental mechanisms behind this relationship.  Drawing upon strategic human resource management model as well as organisational learning theory, this study examined the mediating role of organisational learning in the relationship between HR outsourcing on organisational performance among 171 manufacturing firms in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  Using SPSS Macro for Simple Mediation, we found a significant positive relationship between HR outsourcing on organisational performance.  As expected, organisational learning theory was found to mediate the relationship between HR outsourcing and organisational performance. Implications of the study in the Saudi Arabian context have been discussed.

Measurement of Intention to leave one’s Job: Its Validity and Reliability

It is crucial for manufacturing sectors to retain talented employees and reduce employee turnover as the costliness of recruiting, hiring, training and getting new employees diminishes organisations’ performance. Although many researchers have discussed employee turnover extensively, it remains an unresolved issue. This paper determines the number of common factors influencing intention to leave one’s job. It also analyses the stability and consistency with which the instrument measures the concept and helps to assess the goodness of the measure. Using cluster sampling, this study sampled 452 respondents in nine manufacturing companies comprising nine districts in Selangor, Malaysia. Consequently, the results show that all the Keiser-Meyer-Olkim (KMO) values were above 0.6, and Cronbach’s alpha value for all variables was above 0.5 meaning all constructs were accepted.

Determinants of Microfinance Performances in Bangladesh: The Case Study of Rural Development Scheme and Muslim Aid Bangladesh

Microfinance programs have been designed for the poor people to access the formal financial system easily without any collateral. From the beginning, microfinance programs are trying to reach the poor people to improve their living standard through income generating activities. Following this objective, Rural Development Scheme (RDS) and Muslim Aid Bangladesh (MAB) is working with poor vulnerable people to improve their socioeconomic standard through delivering interest-free microfinance in Bangladesh. This study is, therefore, aims to examine the determinants of microfinance performance in Bangladesh. Towards the achievement of its objective, this study used qualitative techniques. To assess   the determinants, primary data were collected from 192 borrowers from Chittagong district of Bangladesh. The quota sampling method was followed to select the clients. The findings revealed that RDS and MAB have been trying to provide the handsome amount of loan, training, to the clients to run their business though the amount of loan and training was not sufficient. Determinants, time duration with microfinance, client’s age and education level was found in the acceptable range but there are some issues need to be considered according to client’s needs.
